Not How I Planned It.

This past week did not go how I planned it.

On Tuesday, in the middle of a meeting I lead, I was overcome with a flu bug and had to escape the room, to go home and toss and turn for the rest of the night.

Wednesday, I felt much better but was still in slow motion, so I stayed at home and occasionally pretended to type things on my computer.

Thursday, I don't remember what happened on Thursday.

Friday during the day went as planned. But we thought we were getting 5 bunnies for a video shoot and instead we got five gigantic adult rabbits that were bigger than most horses.

Friday night, and into Saturday morning, I was glued to the computer and through phone conversations realizing that my daughter's dance teacher had been killed in a horrible car/train accident.

Saturday from 3am on to around 2pm, I was at the School, helping, pastoring, doing whatever I could to get those wonderful people through this horrific tragedy.

Sunday we announced that we wouldn't be able to go into Wentz Hall in May for our downtown campus services the way we thought we would. We will have to wait until September.

Sunday I said goodbye to my grieving family and flew to Orlando. The second part of that sentence went as planned.

And today, I'm starting my work for the Exponential Conference, and the main sessions that I'll be producing. And it's my lovely wife's birthday. Happy Birthday Kristi! miss you!

Okay, that's the wrap up. Still trying to make sense of it all. How was your week?

Sorry to hear that your weekend didn't go as planned, Eric. Praying that this week completely trumps last week in indescribable ways!

My heart hurts for your daughter and your family. My daughter lost her youth group leader very suddenly two months ago and it's been a really difficult time. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

When we were at the temple this summer, and I say we 'cause I was then a we, I picked up The Torah, and in it was this quote: "Man plans and God laughs."

I don't believe it meant laugh in a literal sense but just that we find ourselves believing--no matter how many reminders that it's not the case--that we are in control.

Eric you are awesome. I just wanted to tell you that. You helped us all so much. I had to teach all her classes tonight and I had a counselor alongside me who told me I did awesome at the end of the night. I didn't believe her at first- but then I thought of you and how wonderfully helpful and comforting you were. And I thought "If I told him he was awesome, would he feel the same way I do right now? That I just squeaked by and was doing what I knew I needed to do and how in the world could I have been awesome? So, yes, you had a weirdly unplanned kind of week, but I don't think you just weathered it, I think you rose magnificently in the Spirit and rocked out the bends and shifts and obstacles placed in your week's path. Thanks for being such a blessing to me and the SPA family Fri-Sat. YOU WERE AWESOME. :)

I, of course, heard about it all the next morning on the news and at school this morning. Washington Jr. High has many of her students as well. Wow! I still remember vividly losing my favorite teacher right before graduation to a horrific car accident...devastating! I'm sure it will, after all is said and done, leave a permanent and indelible print on Sadie's heart as well. At Exponential you're digging down deep to find the joy...God bless!

Leave a reply + answer your question about my week.....

Here goes, I am trying hard to get another trial drug on borad at Mayo inplace of radiation as such treatment has a a 50/50 chance of serviving that treatment. Praying that Mayo will accept the trial drug and such will give me more time here on earth. Went to court on spending more time with my kids ~ can not understand why I have to fight so much to spend time with the babies I gave birth to and was a full-time Mommy until three years ago. My ex-husband, does not want them to expereince the pain of death; very hard when one is closer to death then the average. Went to say good-bye to Tara (CCC/YB) another church family member and was reminded how much I need to live life more then death. Informed about the death of Katie (CCC/YB) another church family and once again, reminded life is so short, here today and could be gone tomorrow. My car went out so I was unable to attend CCC/Shorewood (my home church) however Praise God, I live it the "Ville" so I was able to I walk given low body pain. Mr. Taylor/Romeoveille informed us all of a young boy who is days away from death caused by a brain tumor ~ given the fact I have two---once again I am reminded to live life more then death.

Eric you are an amazing person, you bring life to everything you do even when it hurts. You have an amazing wife who is committed to standing by you within the journey of life. I have viewed her with your children and she is as committed to them as well. CCC loves you so much as you are so needed. Your relationship with your brother makes us all wonder in laughter....lol.

I see all of this from a distance and can only image what it all looks like "up close"....and I mean that in a very respectful way given you are a married man.

At times we find ourself, placed infront of the eight-ball and at times we are on the run forced to dodge it..but at the end of the day it is by Gods love and grace that we have the family we do, that our friends are who they are, and God willing when it's lights out...we get to do it again tomorrow, either here on earth [within our own free will] or beside Father God [within His kingdom]

Stay strong, know that you are needed and loved and down time is just that...time to get down and dirty so that we can stand up and be ready for a clean new clean .....

Bye for now!!
